The rumor mill

Or soldier gossip. More often then not, people at home would be served
a very different story than the story the boots on the ground had to live through.
Apart from that, history is written by the victors. Which means that at best the truth has been bend, and at the worst, the facts have been removed to be replaced by flat out lies that suit the victor. This page aims to keep the memory of the plain soldier alive. In particurlar the liberators of the second world war seen through the Dutch perspective of today.

The day after memorial day, we still celebrate our freedom with the annual Liberation day. In doing so we remind ourselves the value of Liberty, Democracy and human rights.
